2008 Thorpe ShirazOriginating from Shiraz off our Estate vineyard, this Gold medal winning wine has a vibrant purple colour. The palate of blood orange, mulberries, and Thai Basil overlap seamlessly. Gently pressed with minimal oak aging and nominal handling allows the true flavors of our vineyard to shine through. It was made in 4 and 5 year old barrels with 25% being new American for 14 months purely to keep oak influence at a minimum but contributing structure and subtle American oak characters. The reasoning is to keep the fruit fresh, pure and direct: a vibrant and varietal shiraz. This is a wine to be enjoyed now and represents the rich, velvety fruit McLaren Vale grows so well. 1,600 cases produced.
